Attending seminars and webinars gives you a good perspective of what behaviors cause a person to succeed in internet marketing and those which cause a person to fail.
There is a huge gap.
It’s not a gap that can’t be bridged…if you know how. There are identifiable traps which keep people from making money on the internet.
Over the course of the next few days, I’ll be talking about those things.
Problem 1: Not Realizing It’s ALL About Making Money
Unless you have just won the lottery or you are already a multi-millionaire, and internet marketing is a hobby, great. If not, then creating a website, promoting and marketing is ALL about making money. If you are doing something that isn’t making you money, then stop now.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to admit that you are not making any money. You are creating a huge problem for yourself because you are equating making money with your ego.
Better to admit you aren’t making money now than try to hide it. You are sending your unconscious bad messages. You are saying to yourself that it’s okay and excusable to continue with your current behavior. If your goal IS to make money, then it is not excusable.
I do not believe that there is any person who will think less of you if you are not currently making money. As a matter of fact, I am of the belief that the majority of people want to see you succeed. Admit that you need help and get out of your own way.
Problems occur when you make it excusable to do stuff that doesn’t make you money. You are justifying your counterproductive behavior. Begin by looking at your personal situation objectively, then you will be able to form a plan based on reality.
Otherwise, you will come up with excuses. You can choose to be really good at making excuses or making money. But you can’t do both. Which do you prefer?
I can say these things, because I can freely admit that my mindset was one of making excuses. NO MORE! I am off and running. What about you!

Hi Leslie

I found your blog through the Facebook group
I think many people start out and think they can set up a blog or website and after that they will make lots of money without any work, well we all know that is not the case. It takes the correct mindset, hard work and we will succeed, may not be straight away but we have to stick with it and it will come.
I think we need to connect with others and support each other, it is not easy to do it alone.
Thanks for sharing, have a great day.

Hi Pauline,
What a great comment. Having been self employed for many years before I started doing this, I understand that success only comes with hard work, dedication and persistence. There are no magic bullets. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me.
Leslie, mindset is so important and seems to becoming increasingly so as the competition grows (online & off). Or it might be more accurate to say, it’s always been important, but it seems that more & more people are becoming aware of how they may be holding themselves back. Guess that’s why coaching businesses are on the rise these days.
Thanks! ~Debra
